Why do I have to book for all classes in a month?
Good question! Several reasons!
- My private studio accommodates a maximum of 8 students. On a drop-in basis, numbers are unpredictable, so at most classes I would have to turn away everyone after the first 8 to arrive, so disappointing
them and wasting their time and effort in getting there;
- Belly-dancing and teaching are my full-time profession. It does not make economic sense for me to run a class with less than 6 students (as I could, instead, run a one-hour private class for a single student
for more money) so, if there are insufficient paid-up students for a particular
class, I would have to cancel it, with all the associated administrative problems and disappointment for those that have booked and paid. If I have up-front payments for my minimum numbers for all classes in a
month, then I can guarantee (within reason!) to run all those classes;
- Drop-in classes are classified as "public classes"; which are not permitted at a private address.
As a result, classes at this venue have to be booked
and paid for in advance, on a calendar monthly basis, for all remaining available
Mondays or Wednesdays within that month. No other part-bookings can normally be accepted and
there are no refunds or credits for any missed classes. Exceptionally, if there is a vacancy at any class, I may be able to accept a firm booking for that one class 1 or 2 days before the
class.
