WEEKLY DANCE CLASSESGENERAL INFORMATION |
Cost of classes
All evening classes (at Beckenham, Chislehurst and Pimlico) are 1 hour in length, and cost £8*.Lunchtime classes in Jacqueline's private Chislehurst studio are 90 minutes in length and cost £12.
Chislehurst studio classes are not open to the general public and have a fixed, limited capacity. They are therefore only available on a calendar-monthly pre-booked basis and must be paid for in advance for ALL of the advertised classes in that month. No refunds are possible for missed classes.
Currently, no membership fees or requirements apply at any of my class venues.
Space permitting, accompanied children 15 and under may be admitted to public (Beckenham and Pimlico) classes for £4 each.
Student concessions are not available at any of my venues.

Class Basis
Weekly public classes in central London and Beckenham are on a drop-in basis; you neither need to book nor pay in advance. However, this does mean that we cannot predict numbers attending any particular class. Once a class is full, no further students can be admitted; so please arrive early, to avoid disappointment (and to make sure that you take part in the warm-up before commencing any dance movements). The Chislehurst classes, being held in Jacqueline's smaller, private, studio, can only accommodate limited numbers, so are available only on a calendar-monthly, pre-booked basis.

What to wear
Most beginners wear T-shirt and skirt or leggings - something loose, cool & comfortable; and we are preferably barefoot. A hip-belt accentuates hip movements and most beginners find this advantageous; hip-belts are available for purchase at most classes.

Children in classes
Due to relevant Home Office regulations, minors (i.e. persons under the age of 18) can only be permitted in classes if accompanied by a responsible adult. Children under the age of 16 (only if suitably accompanied) may be admitted at the "child" rate (see the Class fees section).

Men in classes
Classes are usually all-female. However, male dancers are always allowed on request, at Jacqueline's discretion, subject to checking with the female students before permitting a male dancer to join the class. In particular, many Moslem ladies are not permitted, because of their religion, to take part in a dance class if there is a man in the room (even if he is not dancing), so males cannot take part if there are such objections. This is a very rare occurrence.
Classes in central London may be accompanied by an Arabic drummer - who is generally a male.
Transexuals are not categorised as "males" in this instance, provided that they are now technically "female", and they are welcome at any classes.
Private classes and personal training can be run for any group of dancers, male, female or mixed. Classes for males only can be traditional (i.e "female") bellydancing, middle-eastern male belly dancing (Tahtib etc.), or a mixture of the 2; but will only be arranged for when a chaperone is on hand.

Currency of venue information
We try to keep this site as up-to-date as possible, but please check before attending any class, as some venues close during school holiday periods (most close for 3 or 4 weeks at Christmas) and venues and times may change without notice due to circumstances beyond our control.SEVERE WEATHER CONDITIONS : ALL CLASSES NORMALLY CONTINUE REGARDLESS OF THE WEATHER! But, for instance, if there is an exceptionally heavy snowfall or a hurricane(!), do telephone Jacqueline or check back here at least a couple of hours before your class just to make sure. Also, please allow extra time to get to a class - and wear well-soled boots or similar, as you may have to park further than normal from the studio and walk through ice and slush!!

Class Teacher
All classes are normally led personally by Jacqueline; however, in exceptional circumstances, one of Jacqueline's professional standard students may lead a class. If it is critical for you to be taught by Jacqueline, please check before attending the class.
