Mondays & Wednesdays:
Chislehurst, Kent

Nearest train stations - Sidcup, Chislehurst, Bickley (Travelcard Zone 5).  Each is about 10 mins by minicab (fare £4-£6 depending on the station).  The 269 bus service serves all 3 stations and stops near the studio.  Additionally, the 160 bus service from Sidcup station stops near the studio.  The 269 runs from Bromley North to Bexley and Bexleheath and the 160 from Catford bus garage via Eltham to Sidcup. Both buses run very frequently (about every 10 minutes).
(Please note - this studio is at Jacqueline's private address, which cannot be displayed on a public website page for security reasons.  Students booking these classes will be sent the address, directions and a map, on request.)

Mondays - 2 classes - each being 90 minutes : 11.30am to 1pm and 6 to 7.30pm.  Either class is £10.
Wednesdays 7.30 to 8.30pm (1 hour) - £7.

These classes are held in Jacqueline's private studio - therefore no drop-in public classes are available - so class size is strictly limited and attendance is by pre-booking and payment in advance only.
Classes only run on fixed dates; and either lunchtime and/or evening classes may not run in some months if there are insufficient students booked.  Classes can only be booked for a full calendar month (the actual classes available each month are listed on the "bookings" page - click on the "£" button below).   Exceptionally, if there is a vacancy up to 2 days before a scheduled class, you may be able to book a single class, by arrangement with Jacqueline.
You can pay at classes, by cheque/post or, if you prefer, online for your bookings.  Click herePayments for Jacqueline Chapman's Monday classes in Chislehurstto see available dates, confirm your booking or arrange payment.

Cost of classes
All public classes (Danceworks,  Hextable and Beckenham), are 1 hour in length, and cost £7*.
Weekly (Monday) classes in my private Chislehurst studio are 90 minutes in length and cost £10 each.  These classes are not open to the general public.  They are therefore only available on a calendar-monthly pre-booked basis and must be paid for in advance for ALL of the classes advised to be available in that month.  No refunds are possible for missed classes.

(*plus membership, at DanceWorks only; currently £5 per day; or around £96 per year, if paid by monthly direct debit.)

Space permitting, children 15 and under, accompanying an adult, may be admitted to Hextable and Beckenham classes for £4 each.  Children are permitted at DanceWorks and my private studio, but are chargeable at adult rate.

Class Basis
My weekly public classes at Danceworks, Hextable and Beckenham are on a drop-in basis; you neither need to book nor pay in advance. However, this does mean that I cannot predict numbers attending any particular class. Once a class is full, no further students can be admitted; so please arrive early, to avoid disappointment (and to make sure that you take part in the warm-up before commencing any dance movements).
The Monday classes, being held in my smaller, private, studio, can only accommodate limited numbers, so are available only on a calendar-monthly, pre-booked basis.

What to wear
Most beginners wear T-shirt and skirt or leggings - something loose, cool & comfortable; and we are preferably barefoot.  A hip-belt accentuates hip movements and most beginners find this advantageous; hip-belts are available for purchase at most of my classes.

Men in classes
My classes are usually all-female.  However, I have always allowed male dancers on request, at my own discretion. I always check with my female students before permitting a male dancer to join the class.

In particular, many Moslem ladies are not permitted, because of their religion, to take part in a dance class if there is a man in the room (even if he is not dancing), so I cannot allow males to take part if there are such objections.

My classes at DanceWorks are frequently accompanied by a drummer - who is male.

I do not categorise transexuals as "males" in this instance, provided that they are now technically "female", and I am happy for them to join my classes.

I run private classes for any group of dancers, male, female or mixed. Classes for males only can be traditional (i.e "female") bellydancing, middle-eastern male belly dancing (Saidi etc.), or a mixture of the 2.

Currency of venue information
We try to keep this site as up-to-date as possible, but please check before attending any class, as some venues close during school holiday periods (all close for 3 or 4 weeks at Christmas) and venues and times may change without notice due to circumstances beyond our control.
