in respect of personal data collected from website www.bellydancer.org.uk; or sent to a bellydancer.org.uk email address; or entered on a class register form at one of my belly dance classes.


I collect and retain, dependent on the source, the following data about you, that you have provided personally:

1) Teachers listed on my website register

The following data is collected via a form on my website:
  • Your name and your professional name
  • Your main and an alternative email address (not displayed unless you have chosen to)
  • Your teacher type (belly dance, multi dance, drumming or other music)
  • Your residential address (not displayed unless you have chosen to)
  • The details of each of your teaching venues
  • The style of dance or music that you teach
  • Which classes you provide (regular weekly, half-day, full-day or weekend workshops)
  • How many years you have been belly dancing or practising your form of dance or music
  • How many years you have been teaching belly dancing or your form of dance or music
  • Your website address
  • Any comments you have provided for display in your register entry
  • Your password (not held online or displayed)
  • The date on which I last received communication of any sort from you.
    • All of this data, as appropriate, is displayed in your register entry on my website as an information service provided free of charge on your behalf. It is also retained only in my privately-owned records, maintained on a computer system on secure premises, protected by appropriate levels of security software against unauthorised access.

    I may use the contact information on a very occasional basis to send you information that I consider may be of use and relevance to you - this may include details of belly dance events (national and/or international), opportunities for belly dancing work (such as TV, film or other performance opportunities), workshops and other matters such as known frauds or security risks which I believe could affect you.

    Under no circumstances (other than by virtue of it appearing on the register, which is in the public domain) is this data passed to any 3rd parties.

    You have the right to request the deletion or amendment of your data at any time, by completing the appropriate form on my website or sending me an email.

    If the last communication date exceeds 9 months and I am unable to obtain a response to emails sent to you, then your record is deleted from the online register. The data is then retained in an archive for a maximum of 2 years before being finally deleted. Otherwise, it is maintained on the register perpetually.

    2) Enquiries from my website, or email enquiries, in respect of classes, workshops or training videos; or class registers completed by students attending my classes

    The following data is collected via a form on my website or a class register:
  • Name
  • Email address
  • Postal address
  • Telephone number
  • Comments about your enquiry or order
    • The following additional data is collected for online transactions only:
  • The price that you paid
  • The quantity you purchased
  • Details of the goods or services that you purchased including the details of the person they were purchased for, if not yourself
  • The address to which the goods or services were delivered.
    • Financial data such as credit card numbers, bank accounts etc. is processed securely by Paypal and is not passed to me. Bank data as may be gleaned from cheque payments is neither recorded nor stored anywhere by me.

    Your data is retained only in my private records, maintained on a computer system on secure premises, protected by appropriate levels of security software against unauthorised access.

    The data is used initially to provide you with the requested information, services or goods. I will also use the contact information subsequently to send you information that I consider may be of use and relevance to you - this may include details of belly dance events (national and/or international), classes, workshops and other belly dancing products or services which I believe may be of interest to you. If you do not wish me to use your data other than for the provision of the requested information, services or goods, you may advise me of this using the Comments section of the form and, on receipt of such advice, I undertake to ensure that no data record is created and that you receive no further communication from me.

    If you attend my classes, the register forms contain a clear statement to the effect that you are not obliged to provide any information in order to attend any class - if you do not wish your data to be stored, then do not complete the register form. If you have completed the form previously, you may ask me at any time to remove your data from my records and this request will be actioned immediately.

    Under no circumstances is your data passed to any 3rd parties.

    All communications sent to you will advise that you may unsubscribe at any time and provide a simple mechanism for you to achieve this. All unsubscribe requests are dealt with promptly; your data will be deleted from all live files immediately and not used again to communicate in any way with you. Such data remains on archives for up to 2 years before being completely deleted.
